Army stun defending champions KRL in PPFL

KARACHI: Afghan FC and Army earned victories while Pakistan Air Force (PAF) held Navy to a draw as Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) again kept away from Balochistan to let their opponents Baloch FC earn a walkover against them in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) on Sunday afternoon.
Afghan FC beat Habib Bank Limited (HBL) 1-0 at the Jamal Nasir Stadium in Chaman. The all-important goal was scored by midfielder Abdul Hadi in the 52nd minute.

There were two matches played at the Municipal Stadium in Rawalpindi. The opening game, which kicked off at 1.30pm, saw PAF and Navy playing a goalless draw.

The following match between defending champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) and Army was an upset as the former went down 0-2.

The goals for Army were scored by Ansar Abbas (15th min) and Sharjeel Vicky (75th min). It was KRL’s first defeat in the current edition of the grand league.

Meanwhile, the same scenario was repeated at the Nushki Stadium in Nushki as SSGC once again refused to travel to Balochistan. This time they allowed Baloch FC to take three precious points.
