Jernigan to play in Army All-American Bowl

Columbia defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan has accepted an invitation to play in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl on Jan. 8, 2011, according to Tigers coach Craig Howard.

Jernigan, who is rated as the No.1 defensive tackle in the country and as the state of Florida's top prospect according to Scout.com, was also asked to play in the the Under Armour All-America Game.

Howard said that there is an assembly scheduled for Nov. 5th at Columbia, where a representative of the Army will present Jernigan his jersey for the game.

The 6-foot-2 1/2, 280-pound Jernigan was The Sun's big school defensive player of the year last season. The game, which features the top 90 high school players from across the country, will be played at 1 p.m. on Jan 8th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas and televised on NBC.
