Pak Army troops continue relief efforts in affected areas in Hunza Valley


Rawalpindi: Troops of Pakistan Army continue their relief efforts in affected areas in Hunza Valley. While Army Aviation Helicopters are continuously transporting stranded people in the areas to safer places.

A joint civil - military control room has been established at Headquarters FCNA to monitor the situation and coordinate relief activities. As many as 8 helicopters including 3 of Army Aviation are employed for evacuation of stranded people and so far 20330 stranded individuals have been evacuated to safer places. There stranded people are housing in 24 IDP Camp.

Army troops have been deployed for relief activities at Gulmit, Chalt, Nagar, Aliabad, Nasirabad Pisan, Sikandarabad, Nomal, Deneor, Jaglot and Gilgit. Army Engineers have also constructed suspension bridges and Aerial rope way at Ganesh and Heini. A ferry raft has been constructed at Ganesh which can carry 50 tons of loads across the lake. 15 Army boats are also available in the area to carryout rescue operations.

Meanwhile road maintenance teams of FWO are working day and night to keep KKH open between Hunza and Gilgit and also between Gilgit and Abbottabad, so that relief activities could be carried out at faster pace.
